What makes our training better?Construction Craft Academy is the only educational institution in America that focuses on getting tenured and prospective craftsmen the training they need to earn Department of Labor Journeyman Certification through an accelerated method. Specifically, here’s what sets Construction Craft Academy apart from other training venues:
Our teaching method immerses students in their training, enabling them to complete course modules in a continuous, accelerated manner versus traditional programs that train a few hours a night, once or twice a week. Our modules, inclusive of classroom and lab instruction, range from 4 to 40 hours long which means students can complete training in a specific skill area in as little one half day to one full week. This continuous form of training has proven to diminish the “burn-out factor” associated with night schooling, increase program completion rates, and improve an individual’s ability to learn, retain and apply their knowledge in the field. IN-DEPTH, PRE-TRAINING EVALUATION We require every student seeking journeyman certification to complete a highly comprehensive 10-16 hour battery of tests as part of the enrollment process. Test results are reliable and give a true measure of your worker’s strengths and weaknesses. Upon completion of the evaluation, each employee is provided a personalized “Training Plan” that fully outlines specific courses required for them to become certified. Your workers can then schedule classes around your construction schedule. The testing ensures that your training investment is spent only on courses that will increase the skill level of your employee.
The best way to fully prepare individuals for the real world is to train them in labs that emulate realistic construction situations. Our training labs enable students to develop their trade skills by working on full-scale structures, not on training boards or miniature configurations. In addition, students from various trades share work environments and work collectively on projects, which replicates real construction settings. One common criticism of standardized training program labs is their use of obsolete technology and/or craft practices. The Academy consistently monitors and updates our equipment, work procedures and training labs regularly to meet current methods of construction. Our relationships with America’s most respected tool and equipment manufacturers have resulted in labs outfitted with first-rate, state-of-the-art equipment and technology, the same found on your jobsites. For all our training programs, we use only Department of Labor approved curriculums including the National Center for Construction Education and Research’s (NCCER) Contren Learning Series. Contren is nationally accredited and is also the most widely used training curriculum in the construction industry. FULL-TIME ICTP-CERTIFIED INSTRUCTORS All our instructors are professional, full-time employees, not part-time craftworkers making extra cash after hours. Each has been hired based upon their trade knowledge and enthusiasm to teach and empower others. Instructors are required to have a minimum 10 years of experience in their trade and must successfully complete NCCER’s Instructor Certification Training Program (ICTP) in addition to our proprietary “Train the Trainer” lab familiarity course. EMPLOYEE RETENTION AND JOINT FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY PROGRAMS The Academy can help you maximize the return on your training investment.
