Contractor Training Opportunities
CONSTRUCTION TRAINING PROGRAM
Construction Craft Academy training is currently available for the Carpentry,
Electrical, Masonry, Pipefitting, Welding and Plumbing Trades. Additional
trades will be added based upon demand.
FULL APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING
Our Apprenticeship Training enables new construction workers to complete
Levels One and Two —the equivalent of two years of traditional apprenticeship
training – in just two months. Upon completion of Level Two, students
apply their training and develop their skills in a 6-8 month paid internship
with a sponsoring contractor. They can then complete Levels Three and
Four and earn certification in just two months by training full time.
Or, they have the option to complete the full program on a module by module
basis working directly along side – and learning from – seasoned
construction workers who are enrolled in Journeyman Certification Training. Call Bill Sero, Academy Director, at 877.224.3120 for details.
JOURNEYMAN CERTIFICATION TRAINING
This program enables tenured skilled craftsmen to apply their experience and
existing skill sets toward earning Department of Labor Journeyman Certification
– to become DOL card-carrying journeymen. Depending on previous
experience, skill level and the training schedule they commit to, your
employees could earn certification in as little as one year.
In accordance with State and Federal rules, your employees can apply
up to 6,000 hours of verifiable work experience toward the typical 8,000
hours of work experience required to achieve journey-level status. Individuals
are able to “test out” of all but 144 hours of the classroom
and lab time also required to earn journeyman credentials. Essentially,
many of your experienced craftsmen may already meet 25 - 75% of the requirements
needed to earn certification. Call Bill Sero, Academy Director, at 877.224.3120 for details.
SKILL-SPECIFIC TRAINING
Construction Craft Academy’s “Skill-Specific Training”
makes it possible for tenured craftsmen to learn new skills related to
their trade, improve on existing skills, or cross-train into other trades.
This training is taught in a modular format like our other programs enabling
individuals to learn specific skill sets in a continuous, accelerated
manner. The types of skill-specific training offered include:
- Supervisory Skills
- Project Management
- Estimating
- Code Classes
- Advanced Technical Training such as Fiber Optics
- Advanced Controls
- Specialized Welding (titanium)
- Pipe/Welding Certification
- Advanced Cabinetry
- Advance Stair Systems
- Finish Carpentry, etc.
Many other courses in various trades are offered. Call Bill Sero, Academy Director, at 877.224.3120 for details.
CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAM
Unlike other programs that assume “once a journeyman, always a
journeyman,” we acknowledge the necessity to continuously train
– even re-certify – skilled craftsmen to protect the integrity of
the DOL Journeyman Certification. Continuing education is a critical element
of your training program as it will keep your employees current in areas
related to their trade. Our program covers industry changes related to
safety, technology, even craft techniques that affect quality and productivity.
We can also help keep your workforce compliant with state and federal
building codes which are modified regularly.
We recommend a minimum 24 hours of training annually per certified journeyman.
Programs are customized for your company based on industry trends or you
can choose specific courses to meet individual employee needs. Call Bill Sero, Academy Director, at 877.224.3120 for details.
