New Toolbox Talk Process
Hello! One important component of Tradesmen’s safety program and culture is providing access to safety training, including monthly Toolbox Talks. Please note, monthly safety toolbox talks will now be emailed to you and housed in EmployeeConnect under the Toolbox Talk tab. Tradesmen encourages you to take a moment to review each month’s topic. You can choose to acknowledge reviewing the toolbox talk by simply clicking the Agree button in the email itself or go to the Toolbox Talk section of EmployeeConnect. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your Tradesmen field office.
You are not required to review the toolbox talks electronically, and toolbox talks will continue to be given at the jobsite, depending on the circumstances, along with safety instructions from our clients. In addition, if you ever feel that you are being asked to work in unsafe conditions or without adequate safety equipment or training, please inform your client supervisor and Tradesmen representative immediately.
Thank you and Be safe!
North America Director of Safety – Announcement
We are pleased to announce Paul McKinney has joined the Tradesmen team as our North America Director
of Safety reporting to me. Safety is Tradesmen’s #1 Core Value and the addition of Paul to head up
our safety programs is another step in our continued commitment to driving best in class safety for all our
craftspeople and the ongoing focus on our safety culture. Paul went through a rigorous hiring process
which included interviews with Senior Field and Corporate Leadership as well as a job site visit with Field
Office Leadership.
Paul has 35 years of experience in environmental, health, safety risk and compliance within the
construction and general industries. In his most recent position, Paul served as the VP of Environmental,
Health, Safety, Risk and Compliance for a large nationally based interior design, manufacturing, and
construction company where he built the safety program.
Gretchen Fri, Director Safety Communications, will continue to play a key role in building Tradesmen’s
safety program and will report to Paul going forward. Please continue to engage with Gretchen as you
are currently.
While Paul now heads up Safety, we all have a significant role in driving and improving safety and I look
to each Tradesmen employee to play their part in onboarding Paul as we continue to build on our past
success and improve our safety program. Paul will spend a good deal of time out in the Field so
there will be lots of opportunity to meet and interact with Paul.
Please join me in welcoming Paul to the Tradesmen team!
Thanks, and Be Safe
TimeCapsure Update
Beginning Friday, December 4, 2020, when a timecard is submitted an email will be automatically sent to the supervisor email address on file for review and approval. The system will no longer allow for in person supervisor approvals on an employee’s device. If you, or your supervisor, have any questions about this change, please contact your local Tradesmen office.
Thank you and Be Safe!
Important information Regarding Unemployment Benefits and Job Refusals
Due to the COVID pandemic, most states have relaxed some of the guidelines for eligibility for unemployment compensation. However, in most states, an employee must still remain able and available to work in order to continue receiving unemployment compensation.
As a result, a person turning down suitable assignments may stop receiving unemployment benefits. Tradesmen may also have to report to the state unemployment agency that an employee who is receiving unemployment benefits is refusing work. Failure to respond to calls, texts or emails from Tradesmen concerning a potential assignment may also jeopardize an employee’s eligibility for unemployment benefits.
Be Safe.
